ABOUT

TATHAM

Tatham Smith is an artist based between New York and California. Tatham is interested in the gap between appearance and reality—how people perform, protect themselves, and ultimately search for connection. She believes that the most interesting stories are the ones hidden beneath the surface. Tatham’s eclectic style spans from colorful Pop Style works to dark witty portraits which Gallery and Style Magazine called "especially strong works which render the cliche 'portrait painting is dead' patently ridiculous..." Her paintings use symbolism, and unexpected visual details to explore conformity, war, identity, and the resilience of the human spirit. Rather than telling viewers what to think, she creates layered narratives that reveal themselves slowly, rewarding curiosity and close observation. Her work combines graphic, pop-inspired imagery with psychologically charged themes, creating paintings that are visually engaging while inviting deeper reflection.

Tatham is a member of a private The New York Arts Club and Laguna Art where her art can be viewedcontinues to write, paint, and explore the stories that shape who we become.
